We are fundraising to provide domestic abuse victims with a tool 'Hollie Guard Extra' which will allow them to alert an emergency 24/7 professional response team when they are in danger, simply by shaking or tapping their phone.
It ran from 12:00 PM, 1 December 2020 to 12:00 PM, 8 December 2020
Registered Charity in England and Wales (1156804)
I was introduced to Hollie Guard by my Domestic Abuse Risk Officer. It’s everything from a panic alarm, to a GPS tracker, raising alerts and live recording. Another benefit is having something protective on your own, trusted device provides more comfort than a secondary piece of equipment.
I have found it easy to download, register my emergency contacts and use. Gives added peace of mind.
For the year ending March 2019, the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) showed that an estimated 2.4 million adults aged 16 to 74 years experienced domestic abuse in the last year. This equates to a prevalence rate of approximately 6 in 100 adults. Domestic abuse is often a hidden crime that is not reported to the police. Therefore, data held by the police can only provide a partial picture of the actual level of domestic abuse experienced.
In 2015, we launched Hollie Guard; a free app which turns your smartphone into an advanced personal safety device. In 2020 we introduced a new service available through Hollie Guard - Hollie Guard Extra (HGE). With HGE just a shake of the phone or tap of the button sends an alert to a professional 24/7 monitoring service. We will provide 1st tier organisations with vouchers to give to the victims of domestic abuse they support to use HGE free of charge for a period of 12 months.
