Fabrica is a contemporary art gallery and arts charity based in Brighton. We are seeking funds to support our community programme, which provides opportunities to be creative to children from low income families and older people at risk of social isolation who have been disproportionately affected by the ongoing pandemic.

    Situation

The recent pandemic has exacerbated existing inequalities, disproportionately affecting older people at risk of social isolation and children from low income families. Homeschooling has widened the attainment gap for children from low income families, while many older adults lost usual ways to connect with support networks, causing long term negative effects to their health and wellbeing.

    Solution

Engaging in the arts has a hugely positive impact on people’s health, wellbeing, education and social mobility. Each year we deliver free creative and cultural activities to 3,000 people in Brighton, from holiday lunch clubs for children from low income families to arts and craft activities for older adults at risk of social isolation. In 2020 we adapted our activities to ensure everybody, regardless of age or circumstances, could continue to enjoy the benefits of the arts.
