This campaign has now closed

Children and young people in Gaza have lived through three major conflicts, face massive restrictions on their movement and feel despair for the future. Help us create hope by funding play therapy, counselling and practical employment skills.

    Situation

In 2012 the UN said Gaza would be uninhabitable by 2020. Today 80% of families rely on food aid, 97% of water is undrinkable, there are power cuts 12 hours a day & before Covid 19's impact over 60% of young adults were unemployed. The borders have been closed for 13 years, locking 2 million people into a 26 x 5 mile strip of land. It is estimated that 25,000 children & young people have post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) having seen friends & family shot or injured & need therapeutic support.

    Solution

Our local partner in Gaza, NECC, runs play therapy sessions for children. They also train young people with employment skills & provide individual & group therapy. Boys unable to stay in school are trained in metalwork and carpentry; over 18s learn electrical engineering & solar power installation. Young women learn secretarial skills or attend Gaza‘s first graphic design course. They receive extensive work experience, mentoring into employment and can apply for microloans for business start-ups.
