Amber is raising the funds that will pay for a temporary home and an intensive programme of support for 24 young homeless people this winter. Across our 3 centres, we will not only provide a safe place to live and 3 meals a day - our support will help young people move on to a positive future.
It ran from 12:00 PM, 1 December 2020 to 12:00 PM, 8 December 2020

So what was it that actually changed me? Well my team leader for one! He wasn't just a worker, he was my inspiration. He helped me deal with my debts, open a bank account, build family bonds, pushed me to follow my ‘dreams and desires’ and he believed in me, and that's something I never had
Amber has helped me turn my life around in every way possible. Having a safe, secure roof over my head has made all the difference. My mental health was a mess when I got here. I feel so much more stable and in control of things now.
When I arrived at Amber I had no idea how to support myself. Amber has really helped me to learn new skills like cooking and being able to look after myself properly. I am excited about the future and I know that I now have the right skills to be able to live on my own, independently.
The young people that Amber supports are homeless and unemployed. There are many reasons why young people become homeless - family breakdown, leaving care, childhood trauma, mental ill-health, addiction, prison release, losing a job. Sometimes people make bad decisions, and because they lack a network of support, things can go quickly and drastically wrong.
We provide a temporary home and a safe place to live - this appeal aims to raise enough to support 24 young people through the winter months. But our support is not just a temporary fix - the young people that we help participate in our intensive programme that helps them address what is holding them back so that when they leave Amber, they do so into a job or into education/training and sustainable and appropriate accommodation.
