    Situation

Street-connected children in Kolkata are unsafe, unsupported and voiceless. “Street children survive very hard lives with very little help from both the significant adults in their lives and from the state.” Save the Children. “We need a government who will look after our needs … and who hears what we have to say”, Street Child, 2017. “The time has come to revive these unheard voices and support them in retrieving their long lost rights.” West Bengal Commission for the Protection of Child Right

    Solution

StreetInvest will harness the voices of street children to inform and lobby for effective responses to their needs by expanding our Street Champions programme. We will strengthen the network of organisations working together with the government to support these children and bring systemic policy and practice change. We will add more Street Workers to the network, support them and their work to be more effective and promote appropriate responses based on the children’s realities.
