LYC, a centre of musical excellence & inclusivity, brings young people together from across London, regardless of social & financial circumstances. Funds raised will ensure LYC’s superb teaching continues to inspire, performances thrill, & no barriers prevent talented young singers from taking part.

    Situation

LYC aspires to welcome more young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and areas with few opportunities for high-quality choral singing. We want to remove existing barriers, both financial and social, and give talented young people the chance to work with leading practitioners and participate in major musical events. Now that we are emerging from the restrictions of lockdown, it is especially important that we seek to improve the accessibility of our musical activities for all.

    Solution

LYC’s team of choral specialists aims to make real substantial change to the lives and ambitions of young people across London. A major expansion programme, already underway, will see the launch of the 2nd of 4 new juniors choirs in outer boroughs, so those who wish to take part in the LYC Experience can do so closer to home. Fees will be subsidised and additional support provided to remove barriers. Likewise, financial assistance will enable more young people to join our 6 City-based choirs.
