Situation
We have a climate and ecological emergency. Flood, drought and loss of habitat and species are having an increasing impact on people's lives and the natural world. People are increasingly disconnected from nature but suffering impacts from an environment in crisis.
Solution
The beaver is an "eco-system" engineer, which constructs dams and canals to on the one hand hold back water in wetlands to reduce the impact of flooding and drought and on the other to create a much richer variety of habitats for a range of species which struggle to survive in the modern landscape. Beaver wetlands also remove silt and agricultural pollution from water courses to clean up our water. By restoring this important, native mammal we can help address these very serious problems.
