We are a family and children's support charity, offering emotional support and practical advice via our team of fully trained volunteers. Our team offer a confidential service and actively listen to enable families to work to their own solutions and cope for themselves within the community.

Situation
Many of our families are socially isolated and one or both parents may find it difficult to cope or are struggling with the practical aspects of caring for their child. Many professional agencies may not offer the sort of support available from Home Start. We wish to maintain our 'family fund' which allows us to buy craft and play activities for the children of families and enables us to support families with essential items during times of crisis.
Solution
We offer support, friendship and practical help to parents, predominantly with one child under 5, via a team of trained volunteers. Volunteers are normally parents themselves and are supported by Home Start Co Coordinators. We support parents as they grow in confidence, strengthen their relationships with their children and widen their links with the local community, offering guidance and reassurance and encouraging enjoyment in family life for the ultimate benefit of the children.
