    Situation

In the UK, there are currently around 280,000 people living without safe and secure accommodation. Having nowhere to call home can be traumatic, leading to chronic social isolation, loneliness, poor mental and physical health and lack of autonomy. To cope with homelessness and escape it, people need more than a bed and a roof. They need to be seen, to be heard, to have purpose, to feel connected and to be empowered.

    Solution

We know that singing, creating and performing – live or digitally – is empowering, provides a fun challenge and celebrates achievement. We will support people affected by homelessness to join this project and take creative control, collaborating with artists and students to create and choreograph a video performance, set to music they wrote earlier in the year. The project will put participants’ talent centre stage, helping to develop confidence, self-worth, skills, sense of belonging and pride.
