The Coronavirus pandemic has helped us understand how important it is to wash our hands. But imagine if you had no running water. Together, we will ensure families can rely on safe water, to enable regular handwashing. When families can rely on clean water it transforms their lives.

    Situation

India is home to nearly half of the world’s poorest billion people, 40% have no way of washing their hands, and 10% have no choice but to drink dirty water, every single day. In India, the people being the hardest hit by Coronavirus are those who have the least. Hundreds of thousands of families in rural communities are forced to walk long distances to fetch, often filthy, water. Social distancing is difficult at crowded water spots and as well as being dirty, the water is often contaminated.

    Solution

With 15 years of experience in the WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) sector, we will support 339 families in 5 communities to keep themselves safe from Coronavirus. We’ll support each community to secure access to safe, clean water and raise awareness of good hygiene and sanitation. Your support will ensure that 2,030 individuals can rely on clean water now, and into the future. Girls like Sangita will be able to go to school, instead of walking for hours each day to collect unsafe water.
