We're raising funds to help us meet the increase in demand for free, impartial advice that we know that local people will need once the measures put in place to mitigate the repercussions of COVID-19 are phased out. We want to recruit/train more volunteers and extend the hours of our paid staff.

    Situation

We are seeking to address the spike in demand for free, impartial advice in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis. This includes support and advice on debt, benefits, employment, housing/eviction and family relationships. We're here for everyone but the vast majority of those we help are the most vulnerable in our community, including people living with disability, poor mental health, unemployment, low income, poverty, domestic abuse, debt and homelessness or poor housing.

    Solution

We want to build the capacity of our advice team so that it is better resourced to deal with the increase in demand caused by the fallout from Coronavirus. In particular, we want to be able to offer an additional 250 hours of free, impartial advice to enable people to understand their rights, better manage debt, access the benefits to which they are entitled, maximise their income and avoid eviction from their home
