We all know how much happier a break can make us feel. But what if you’ve never had the opportunity? During lockdown, we all had a taste of some of the challenges many families face all the time. As we look forward to 2021 and beyond, breaks have a significant role to play in the nation’s recovery.

    Situation

The Family Holiday Association helps families struggling with challenges such as mental health, isolation, domestic violence or having a young carer. Many organisations have reported on the negative impact the coronavirus lockdown has had on all these areas, increasing the daily challenges for millions of people. An estimated 1 in 4 families don’t get the opportunity to have a holiday each year because of low income (ONS). Yet a simple break away from home can have a significant positive impact

    Solution

The Family Holiday Association offers families the chance of a fully funded day trip or short break, often in one of our own caravans located in a holiday park by the British seaside. All the families we support are referred to us by someone already working with them in a supporting role, such as a teacher, social worker or another charity. They provide local support and give us confidence that the funds we raise will help the families who will benefit most.
