We want to help more children in Africa than ever before to attend school in a safe, supportive environment. We will meet the urgent needs of out-of-school children whilst tackling barriers to education created by social norms regarding disability, gender, and discrimination.

Situation
Poor quality education perpetuates poverty, population growth, disease and climate change, yet millions of children in rural Africa do not have the opportunity to learn. Girls and children with disabilities struggle most; fuelled by discrimination, domestic burdens, early marriage, childbearing and poor support. The countries we work in recognise that all children have the right to education, but a lack of resources and training means that too often, this is not the reality.
Solution
Education can play a transformational role in helping children and communities escape poverty. We will expand our proven specialist support for schools and communities to better accommodate the needs of girls and pupils with disabilities. We’ll strengthen community awareness on the pathways for holding schools and government accountable to improve the quality of education.
