We are raising funds to support our digital skills training programme for disabled and older people. Individuals receive one to one support to learn how to use the internet safely for social media, shopping, entertainment and information. The money will go towards staff and equipment costs.

    Situation

Digital technology pervades all our lives. Whether shopping and banking online, writing job applications, booking travel or finding entertainment, most people take digital tools and the ability to use them in their stride every day. This technology has the potential to liberate disabled people in their daily routines, yet many have limited access to technology, and have been denied the ability to develop computer skills due to their age, or have lost these due to their disability.

    Solution

We will provide one-to-one training to enable disabled adults and older people to learn digital skills at our dedicated Training Centre in central Kent, and through outreach and remote delivery into people's own homes. This will include training in social media and use of email, including online safety; online shopping; the use of public websites such as Direct.gov and NHS Direct; and use of Microsoft Office applications.
