    Situation

The Covid-19 crisis has led to long-term lockdown inside prisons and Young Offenders Institutions – with prisoners (including under 18s) spending more than 23 hours a day in their cells, with no family visits, education and/or services. The mental health of people living and working in prisons has been worsened by Covid-19. We believe that without the right support, there will undoubtedly be a long-term negative impact on individuals’ mental health, rehabilitation, and future life chances.

    Solution

Our coaching interventions will help shift mind-sets of young people (including young Black and dual heritage men) whilst in prison and on release from prison, so they can focus on moving on, resettling into their local community and developing a plan for a future that excites them, away from crime. Our interventions are proven to improve decision-making, empathy, resilience, future outlook and wellbeing, which are critical in recovering from the impact of Covid-19.
