GIST Cancer UK

Supporting GIST Cancer patients through the Covid19 pandemic

We are seeking funding that will enable us to continue to fund research that is vital to improving the quality of life and long term outcomes for GIST (Gastro Intestinal Stromal Tumour) patients whilst maintaining the full range of support services to patients and their families.

We are trying to make up the shortfall in income due to the coronavirus pandemic. Our major income generating event “Ride London” which last year raised just short of £13,000 to support our activities has been cancelled as have individual fundraising events organised by GIST patients and their families such as sponsored walks, coffee mornings etc which last year generated around £55,000.

GIST Cancer UK doesn’t receive any government funding so is solely reliant on fundraising and donations to finance it’s activities. We are trying to make up the shortfall in income by applying for grants and undertaking online fundraising activities. It is imperative that the work of the charity continues before we sadly loose more patients to this rare cancer. As a small charity the Trustees (the majority of whom are GIST patients) know many of the patients making each loss more devastating.
