    Situation

Every year, over 21,000 women in the UK are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer of the womb, cervix, ovary, vagina or vulva. Sadly, 21 women lose their lives to one of these cancers every day and the five-year survival rate of 43% is among the lowest of all the common cancers. Gynaecological cancers are often diagnosed in the advanced stages when it is too late to be treated effectively. As a result, women undergo gruelling rounds of surgery and chemotherapy with little hope of a cure.

    Solution

Wellbeing of women funds research that will result in treatments, cures and preventions for gynaecological cancers, improving the quality and longevity of the lives of those suffering with these cancers, and saving lives. We are accredited by the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) and our rigorous selection procedure and independent peer review process guarantees that we fund only the highest quality research.
