The Mindfulness Initiative

Making Mindfulness Matter

The Mindfulness Initiative is the first global policy institute focused on mindfulness and compassion training. In the face of urgent challenges, we work with policymakers to place these important practices of heart and mind at the centre of positive change for individuals and society.

The past year has brought the many strains on our wellbeing into focus, pushing countless people to breaking point. Now more than ever, we need to prioritise the most effective ways to support mental health & wellbeing. Due to limited budgets, shifting policy priorities, & momentum behind established interests, evidence-based mindfulness programmes do not receive the consideration or support they need to have the greatest impact and benefit. This short-term thinking comes at too great a cost.

Building on the success of our 2015 Mindful Nation UK report with the Mindfulness All-Party Parliamentary Group (consolidating the case for mindfulness-based interventions across sectors), we’ll keep providing policymakers in Parliament with the evidence and resources needed to understand the potential for mindfulness programmes; to create lasting, positive change within health, education, criminal justice and the workplace - and for society as a whole.
