Toynbee Hall supports young people in East London to make a difference in their community and tackle the issues they care about. Through providing skills training, networking and mentoring, we equip young people with the tools they need to become the next generation of change makers.

    Situation

Over half of children in Tower Hamlets live in poverty. Our community also has the second highest number of young people who are NEET of any London borough. The strain this combination causes intensifies the challenges young people face, undermines their relationships, and heightens their sense of powerlessness. Together, these challenges can limit individuals’ opportunities for success and their ability to make a positive contribution to their community.

    Solution

We will build young people’s confidence to be change makers in their communities – from supporting them to work with peers on social action projects, to building their leadership skills and capacity to influence local decision-making. We will work with a broad range of young people and support them to develop their aspirations, skills, and confidence to enact positive local change.
