    Situation

Treating and controlling infections in Africa is a continuous and huge challenge for the frontline health workers. From the coronavirus pandemic, West Africa is very likely to see a repeat of the massive challenges the region faced during the Ebola outbreak, which lasted for two years and killed over 11,000 people. With Covid-19 cases now spread to rural areas of Ghana and Sierra Leone, where primary health care is almost non-existent the need for medical aid has never been greater.

    Solution

Inter Care will send virus controlling PPE, medicines and diagnostic equipment via shipping containers and air freight, to partner health units in Sierra Leone and Ghana. PPE, antibiotics, dressings and other medical products are needed to enable infections of all types to be safely treated and prevented. Inter Care’s project will help to save lives in West Africa where vulnerable people are suffering and dying due to a general lack of medical aid.
