With your help, we want to open additional accommodation so that we can end homelessness for as many people as possible and offer support so that they can turn their lives around. Caritas Anchor House is based in the London Borough of Newham, which has the highest levels of homelessness in England.

Situation
We are in the midst of a housing crisis, and the London Borough of Newham – where we are based - has the highest rate of homelessness in the country. Here, 1 in 24 people have nowhere to call home. Rough sleeping in the borough is at an all-time high, having increased by 135% since 2015/16, and as the largest provider of services for homeless people in Newham, the safe place to stay and the support that Caritas Anchor House offers through our 140 bed spaces has never been so important.
Solution
For 287 residents last year, we provided a safe place to call home, a broad range of health and wellbeing support, plus educational opportunities and employability training. Of those, 103 moved on into their own homes, and 81 secured and sustained employment. We run two services, our core hostel and our rough sleepers’ hub, to ensure we’re best able to meet the support needs of those who come to us for help. By increasing our capacity, we will end homelessness for more people than ever before.
