We want to be able to provide support for parents of younger children, who will have been lacking support with their mental health and wellbeing during the pandemic. This will take the form of groups led by people with real lived experience of these issues, delivered either face to face or online.

    Situation

The mental health impact of the pandemic will be far reaching and extend beyond the end of the lockdown period. The stresses and traumas that this crisis has put on families is huge, especially on young children, single parents, young parents and new parents. Parents have been lacking support during the crisis, and the impact of the crisis on the development and mental health of young children is still unknown, but will be huge.

    Solution

We will provide specialist support for the parents of younger children. This will take the form of support groups tackling specialist subjects (e.g. “adjusting to the new normal”, “dealing with separation anxiety”). This will take the form of group work delivered either face to face or online (of combination), dependent on the situation when the project launches. Groups will take place at accessible times, including some at weekends
