1 in 7 11-16 year olds have a mental health disorder; 45% of these young people leave school before the age of 15; and each day 41 children are excluded from school. Deprivation & issues impacting children’s chances have been exacerbating by COVID-19. A prolonged absence of structure, routine, exercise, meaningful work and interaction with both their peers and adults will have long lasting damaging consequences on many children, with those already disadvantaged being disproportionally impacted.
Jamie’s Farm works in partnership with the education sector to offer a preventative solution empowering children to thrive in education, society & beyond. We aim to improve behaviour, engagement, essential life skills & wellbeing-the root causes of exclusion. Our programme involves a 5-day farm residential & follow-up, where children are given real jobs with tangible outcomes, e.g farming, gardening, cooking & horse work. Therapeutic sessions focused on positive praise setting them on a new path
Jamie’s Farm representatives have been willing to go above and beyond to offer personalised support to our students. That is what Jamie’s Farm do, through a thoroughly embedded culture of positivity, hope & love. If you can donate to this cause and enable this work to spread more widely, please do.
Jamie’s Farm was a life changing experience for me & taught me so much about personal relationships, and just calmed me down an incredible amount. I’m so grateful to have been part of it. When I left Jamie’s Farm I built relationships with my parents again and we now have a solid, pure relationship.
As a teacher, trying to meet the needs of our more vulnerable learners during lock down, having access to Jamie’s Farm and the activities it has provided has allowed me to engage children in a positive way so that they can still be achieving and most importantly see themselves achieving.
