    Situation

For many waking up hungry wondering when you will next get fed is normal. In 2020 individuals and families are still living in financial poverty and struggling to pay bills and eat. Cooking facilities can be limited or non existent so another hurdle to overcome. Struggling with a lack of confidence and self worth makes life so much more difficult to face. Good Shepherd sees these issues daily and hear first hand stories of the barriers and challenges which many are facing and need addressing.

    Solution

Good Shepherd is working to tackle food waste and food hunger ensuring food which can be used is stopped from going to landfill. Serving hot food is the magnet which attracts the most vulnerable in society and is somewhere for many to come and build confidence and self esteem. Having a hot meal in a safe and friendly environment is an important step to feel accepted in society. Giving families food parcels will help ease the load ensuring meal can be prepared at home and bills can be paid.
