    Situation

This year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of Sir Peter Wright’s The Nutcracker. This show was created for Birmingham Royal Ballet and has been enjoyed by nearly one million people - often families watching ballet for the first time – and it is a production which ensures the financial security of the Company. Its beautiful sets, costumes and props have been used for over 1000 performances. Work is still required to refurbish this entire production and to modernise its technical infrastructure

    Solution

So far, we have raised funds to restore the costumes and sets in most urgent need of repair. Working with original designer John Macfarlane, Birmingham Royal Ballet will continue this work, with a focus on the sets in Act 1, including the fireplace, the staircase and its iconic Christmas tree. Donations to this campaign will also help us modernise the technical infrastructure behind the show and will make sure The Nutcracker remains one of the world’s leading ballet productions
