At St John, we are committed to opening doors for young people. Coronavirus has presented the world with an unprecedented challenge to public health and people’s livelihoods. However, we believe in the power of communities to recover – and the potential of young people to be at the heart of that.

    Situation

There are even fewer opportunities for young people to interact in safe spaces outside school, where they can explore, connect and build positive relationships. These pressures have been made worse by coronavirus, with education and career opportunities seriously affected. Since March, our young people have been unable to physically meet. Although many are staying engaged via weekly virtual sessions, you simply can’t replace the benefits and experiences face to face contact brings.

    Solution

Our Badger and Cadet groups play a crucial role in bringing young people together, enabling social interactions and developing life skills. We want to create more opportunities for our young people in 2021 when our groups can meet up again. We want our young people to be proud of themselves, their achievements and of the futures they can make for themselves. Futures where they are employment ready and confident in stepping forward in the moments that matter for their communities.
