Wycombe Heritage And Arts Trust

Focusing on our Community after Covid-19

We aim to raise £20,000 to support open air community activities; an outdoor learn & play area with heritage information panels, two community fundays and to offer half of Discover & Make tickets for 2021 free to low income families and children in care, hard hit by home learning during lockdown.

Situation

We need greater awareness of Wycombe Museum within the local community, to promote High Wycombe's heritage. There has been a detrimental impact on children home learning during COVID especially for low income families. These families are also under represented in museum visits and less likely to access informal learning. The museum does not currently have heritage interpretation in the grounds. We must create a sustainable future in order to continue the current services.

Solution

Creating an outdoor play area will incorporate informal learning and an awareness of our heritage in the grounds, making it more accessible to all. Offering 50% of our holiday craft sessions free to low income and children in care will encourage these families to visit. Funding two community fun days will enable us to run them. All of these initiatives will encourage more visitors to spend increased time at the museum to help create a sustainable future with increased income.
