Street dogs in Chiang Mai, Thailand, live in constant danger of disease and injury. Last year we treated more than 800 animals in dire need of veterinary care. We are opening a new unit to help critically injured dogs, but we need equipment and medical supplies to give them life-saving treatment.

    Situation

Street dogs in Chiang Mai suffer from appalling parasitic disease like mange, deadly infectious diseases like rabies and fall victim to road traffic accidents and mistreatment. We believe street dogs have the same right to high level veterinary care as pets in the developed world. We run the only centre in the area that rescues sick and injured animals, provides neutering operations and vaccinates against deadly diseases - but there are many more critically injured dogs that need our help.

    Solution

We have received funding for a Critical Care Unit that will triple the number of cases we can treat. Building work is underway, but we need to purchase the equipment, fittings and medical supplies that will provide life-saving treatment for hundreds of dogs every year. Equipment such as intravenous fluid stands (to put dogs on a drip), fluid pumps (to control the amount and speed fluids are administered into the vein), and fittings such as examination tables and fridges to store medicine.
