    Situation

The Coronavirus epidemic has left some of the most vulnerable people in London in a precarious situation. Lockdown is a challenge for us all, but for people at risk of social isolation, the impact hits even harder. For the 40% of children in Westminster who live in poverty, their education is at disrupted, their social and emotional development is affected and their parents may be struggling to make ends meet. Already we know of families living off one meal a day, not knowing where to turn.

    Solution

Our volunteers are a trusted source of practical, social and emotional support. Vetted, trained and supervised, they provide weekly calls online and over the phone to make sure no one is home alone. We have developed specialised training and resources to ensure that families can keep up mental health and wellbeing, and that we identify issues before they become problems, quickly accompanying people to the support they need.
