The pandemic affects us all. However the unprecedented isolation brings extra challenges for a disabled child and their family. This time is desperately hard for the families we support who need our help more than ever. In response we have launched this appeal to ensure our support can continue.

    Situation

Disabled children and their families are at crisis point, with the real prospect of children’s safety and well-being at risk. Having additional health and emotional needs, yet facing a reality where most of their trusted face to face, and social interaction services, are not taking place, is a desperate situation for such vulnerable families. With 10% of UK families having a disabled child, and a third of these in poverty, KIDS is experiencing increased demand for our services.

    Solution

KIDS will adapt the services we provide to disabled children to offer vital support and continuity at this highly stressful time. Developing services able to be provided remotely, will ensure that we are here for the people who rely on our support. We will provide additional resources to those whose diagnoses require them to be shielding. As the current situation eases and restrictions are lifted, we will provide extra activities designed to re-integrate children into their communities.
