The Covid-19 pandemic has pushed young people further into crisis and left them with less support available from statutory services. We ensure that their voices continue to be heard and respected and they can access the support they need, from legal representation to basic hardship support.

    Situation

We exist to support children and young people with rights-based issues, e.g. school exclusion, immigration and homelessness. Through the pandemic, children and young people have been forgotten, as hearings are delayed, services closed, and jobs lost. For those in the criminal justice system, prisons have cancelled visits from relatives, social workers, lawyers, and education and other programmes have stopped. The acute effects of the pandemic have also left many in need, unable to afford basics.

    Solution

We help children and young people navigate challenges with our unique model combining direct advocacy, development opportunities, legal advice and representation. Young people are supported by advocates, lawyers and youth opportunities who provide a joined-up package of help. They use expert knowledge of the system to prioritise wellbeing, working with clients for as long as they need on any issues they need. We are also providing hardship support to address the direct effects of the pandemic.
