Situation

Lockdown and the effects of the virus have had a profound effect on children’s wellbeing. For some the stress, anxiety and isolation has been overwhelming. Polka serves schools in Merton & the South of England. Merton Schools were some of the first to close, so many children have been home-schooling forover three months & teachers have told us they are running out of ideas for remote lessons. Many vulnerable children we work with were already experiencing low self esteem & isolation before the closures, & will fall further behind their peers without intervention

    Solution

We know that access to creativity can benefit children’s wellbeing and academic achievement. Polka offer tailored drama programmes, resources and workshops (both online, by phone and via schools) for children, including those facing challenging circumstances or who have additional support needs. We want to ensure all participants can continue to benefit from these programmes & can combat isolation by staying connected.
