"Jamie’s Farm provided the foundation and support needed in order to mould myself into a person, who was once troubled and unable to reach their full potential, and now knows that life has no limits”.
Jamie's Farm is the single most powerful intervention for young people that I have discovered in 15 years in teaching and senior leadership. The experience has a profound effect on the students' sense of self, their self-esteem and aspirations and their relationship with other people."
"Due to my changes as a teen that was guided by Jamie’s Farm, I believe it has made me able to install the right principles and morals into my own children today and am forever grateful for the experience everyone looking after us on the Farm brought me.”
1 in 7 11-16 year olds have a mental health disorder; 45% of these young people leave school before the age of 15. Each day 41 children are excluded from school. Over their lifetime, an excluded child will cost the taxpayer £370,000. Yet the isolation, fear and uncertainly caused by COVID-19 will have hugely exacerbated pressures on children’s mental well-being & engagement, especially those in crowded inner-city areas. All children should have the chance to thrive in education, society & beyond
Jamie’s Farm reduces exclusion and boosts well-being by improving self-esteem, behaviour and engagement in 11-16 year olds. These outcomes are the result of a 5-day farm residential and follow-up where children are given real jobs with tangible outcomes, such as farming, gardening, cooking and horse work. Therapeutic 1:1s and group sessions focused on positive praise set them on a new path. We work in partnership with schools to ensure long-term impact, with powerful results.
