    Situation

The under 25s will be amongst the worst hit by the economic impact of coronavirus. At the end of last year there were over 760,000 young people not in education, employment or training and this is expected to rise sharply, with thousands more young people facing unemployment. The young people we support already face serious barriers to get into work; whether educational failure, a criminal record or struggles with mental health. They face an uncertain future and will need us now more than ever.

    Solution

We have already worked with over 6,000 disadvantaged 16-24 year olds to help them find employment. Spear is a 1-year coaching programme which challenges their mindset, builds confidence and equips them with the skills they need; from CV writing to professional communication. We are currently supporting our trainees over the phone; helping them to stay resilient and apply for available jobs. When face to face sessions resume, we will support hundreds more young people to get into work.
