Situation

Arthritis is painful, immobilising and debilitating; this brings isolation, discrimination, depression and many sufferers have a lack of knowledge of their disease. There are 200 types of arthritis and many people suffer with more than one type. Some types are more serious than others and generally it is a poorly understood condition affecting millions of people in the UK. Most suffer in silence.

Solution

We provide a friendly, safe environment for people to meet over a cuppa, engage in activities, learn new skills and get support for managing their disease from fellow arthritis sufferers.

  • Arthritis Self-help is a warm and comforting place where I can meet other people who understand how I am feeling when the disease gets the better of me. Sharing with people in the same situation as me is a relief from the isolation of staying at home and staring at the four walls.
