Planting Trees has been proven the best way to combat climate change known to date. Please will you help us plant trees to reforest the desert in Darfur, Sudan? Trees stabilise the desert and provide shade, fruit, and other byproducts to children and their families.

    Situation

Darfur is at the forefront of climate change, with global warming a real threat to the everyday lives of people living in rural villages in the desert. The desert is creeping south at a rate of three miles a year, and this is constantly increasing. Families in Darfur rely on what they can grow but they cannot grow much in the desert, where global warming has meant very little rain, and when it rains it floods.

    Solution

Kids for Kids plants over 14 different varieties of trees which are all drought resistant and have commercial byproducts that we teach the communities who care for the trees to use (and sell!). Therefore, not only are the trees helping to fight global warming, they are also providing a future to families living with very few ways of earning an income. Planting trees removes carbon from the atmosphere, which is of great benefit to the world at a time where there is a real climate crisis.
