Covid-19 has affected everyone. But for young carers and young hospital patients who are facing a loss of social care support and changes in their treatment, the impact is immense. These young people deserve a bright future; help us build confidence, skills, and resilience to make this possible.

    Situation

COVID-19 and the suspension of the Care Act have only increased the daily challenges and risk our young people face. From increased caring responsibilities to greater isolation, our young people are feeling more vulnerable, anxious, and forgotten. Leaving young people to deal with this crisis without their usual support network of schools and social workers especially at their young age has left them even more vulnerable than before. With fewer places to turn to, our support is needed even more.

    Solution

We responded to the pandemic immediately by moving our services online. We deliver weekly inspirational talks with positive role models, business skills workshops with corporate partners, and creative sessions on mindfulness, photography, and music to support young people’s well- being. We are also providing critical 1:1 emotional care and support and facilitating a peer support network. We have been amazed to see the positive response from young people, many of whom are engaging in the programme more than before Covid. With your help, we will be able to support up to 120 young people.
