    Situation

Young people in care or about to leave care experience hardship, isolation and loneliness with often limited opportunities. They have told us they need help to experience new activities and support to build confidence and skills. They struggle to make and maintain friendships, with possible poor relationships and are at risk socially and financially. Many have experienced family violence, abuse, exclusion from school, with mental health issues and substance misuse. It can be a hard life!

    Solution

MAPS is a young person led project and with help we will offer free skills-based activities and opportunities, all supported by volunteers. Young people will design and plan their own activities to increase social interaction with other young people, reducing isolation and loneliness. They build trusting relationships, healthy friendships experience new things. Some will build leadership skills with delivered activities that are fun, safe and promote values to respect and learn from each other.
