    Situation

CACT responds to a range of needs in the community, including: - in 2017/18, over 35% of 11 year olds in Bexley and Royal Greenwich were classed as overweight or obese - hate crime increased by 25% in Kent in 2016 - increase in offences involving knives and sharp instruments nationally in 2018 - in Royal Greenwich, one fifth of the population aged 16+ (20.6%) have no qualifications (accounting for 41,082 people), the sixth highest in London.

    Solution

CACT has a unique model in the area for engaging with individuals who may need support to reach their full potential, by using the power of football and the Charlton Athletic brand to break down barriers. Our bursary fund enables young people and other participants to access our programmes or gives them the additional support they need to reach their full potential, for example by buying them new clothing, paying for a haircut before an interview or covering travel costs.
