  • “We've discovered a potential new treatment that destroys the mutated protein that causes leukaemia in infants.Leukaemia UK funding allows us to bridge the gap from laboratory to clinical trials. We hope this discovery will be a game changer for these vulnerable babies suffering from this disease."

    — Dr Jasper de Boer

  • "I myself became a victim of this awful, often lethal type of blood cancer and if it wasn’t for past donations to Leukaemia UK, I’m sure I wouldn’t be here today.”

    — Rosalind

Every day 27 people are diagnosed with leukaemia, that's 9,900 new people diagnosed with leukaemia every year. Sadly around 50% of people will not reach 5 years of survival after receiving a leukaemia diagnosis. This is a devastating statistic and one that needs to change. Blood cancer can affect anyone of any age and is the 3rd biggest cancer killer, claiming more lives than breast or prostate cancer each year. This needs to change.

At Leukaemia UK we invest in ground-breaking, innovative researchers at the forefront of leukaemia and blood cancer research. Our researchers bring new ways of thinking to the labs, increasing our understanding of the diseases and developing kinder, more effective treatments as we work towards a cure. Our research is already changing lives, but we know more needs to be done. "We've discovered a potential new treatment that destroys the mutated protein that causes leukaemia in infants." - Dr Boer
