    Situation

For disabled young people, a major barrier to becoming a professional dancer begins with access to training. There is a severe lack of progression routes in to dance training and Higher Education for disabled dancers. The current landscape does not make space and support diverse needs and experiences. Inclusive training is about creating bespoke pathways and development opportunities in an environment where the individual needs of disabled participants are accounted for.

    Solution

Candoco Youth Dance Company is a new, auditioned, youth company, that will meet on weekends for focussed training in a range of contemporary dance styles. It will offer a truly inclusive approach for aspiring young disabled and non-disabled dancers. Taking creative inspiration from leading artists, and involving making and performing experience within a supportive learning environment, Candoco Youth Dance Company will offer individualised pathways into further education or a career in dance.
