    Situation

Every day 618 seriously ill children arrive at GOSH from across the UK. Many children spend a long time in children’s services at the hospital. The hospital has identified that more needs to be done to support these children emotional health when they are beginning to think about transitioning into adult care. Children feel scared and isolated as they have to break away from the services they feel comfortable particularly if they don't feel open for conversations about change.

    Solution

Our show will address the idea of change and growing up within the context of a fairy tale puppet show. It will provide the children with a fun introduction to begin talking about the changes that they are experiencing as they move into adult medical care. The show will end with the children having the chance to create a digital memory bank and see other children's memories of hospital care. Hopefully this will help to reduce the feelings of isolation many children experience during this time.
