Ubaka U Rwanda is a Christian Charity committed to eradicating homelessness for children & young people in Rwanda. We provide accommodation, food, access to medical care & both primary & secondary education. We run both prevention & drop-in programs for those at risk & those still in the streets.

Situation
According to UNICEF 43% of Rwanda's population are under 15 & a disproportionate number (44%) are below Rwanda's poverty line/in extreme poverty. These high numbers combined with no proper social services system, HIV levels & secondary effects of the genocide lead to high numbers of troubled street children who have no way to escape their desperate situation without being provided a home, access to education, healthcare and so on. We strive to find a permanent way off the streets for them.
Solution
Ubaka houses the most vulnerable & urgent cases of homelessness in children in the Nyamirambo area. The live in foster parents are experts in rehabilitation & provide 24-7 care. We have a prevention program identifying & supporting children at risk of becoming street children & a drop-in service providing meals, support, washing & fresh clothes for those still homeless. We also provide access to both primary & secondary education & placement in families where possible.
