Mental ill-health affects 1/10th of UK children but only 1/4 are receiving any kind of specialist help. Many do not receive a service; continue to be disturbed; are at risk of becoming involved with anti-social behaviour; fail to reach their potential; have severe problems with relationships.

    Situation

    Those affected by trauma, domestic violence, separation, disability, learning difficulties, life transitions; mental health concerns, extreme behaviour, substance abuse; and those with external stresses such as poverty, unemployment and poor housing. The objective is for local children and their parents to receive specialist help, resulting in improved mental health, life-enhancing adjustments in relationships and self-perception, increased resilience.

    Solution

    We will provide 1:1 specialist therapy and counselling for children and their parents. We will also offer 3 group services in local schools for children aged 4-11, who have been identified by the school (Mighty Me, Cool Moves & Shining Stars). Children
