    Situation

In busy, crowded east London, younger and older people of many cultural communities can live parallel lives. 1 in 5 people move in or out of Tower Hamlets every year, so getting to know your neighbours can be difficult. Poverty, poor housing and constant redevelopment lead to a sense of dislocation and loneliness. While many people of all ages are keen to connect with others, they lack opportunities and places to meet, or chances to share their talents or learn new skills.

    Solution

Magic Me works in partnership with individuals and local schools, community centres and care homes to run exciting, creative and arts projects that bring together children or young people with older people 60+. Our activities - from photography to singing, drama to evening cocktail parties - bring together people who would otherwise never meet. All are designed to offer new opportunities, generate friendship and fun, and build relationships across generations and cultures.
