    Situation

Although there is substantial evidence that an arts education is beneficial for academic attainment and soft skills development, access is a challenge for disadvantaged children and young people. Schools struggle to provide opportunities due to budget cuts, the EBacc, and pressures to focus on attainment. Equally, research suggests that the most disadvantaged are unlikely to participate in an arts education outside of school due to socioeconomic factors, leaving them out of the loop entirely.

    Solution

We will address this problem by working with a school in a high needs area, delivering a free, engaging and creatively challenging programme for their pupils. As well as creative workshops, we will enable the whole school and the local community to engage with incredible, inspiring professional artists and positive role models with whom they might not otherwise cross paths. We will also provide two professional music performances at award-winning venue, Church of Sound, with and for participants.
