Our aim is to fund the salaries of the four palliative care nurses working at Hospice Ethiopia for 6 months. Hospice Ethiopia is a non-government organisation and receives no funding from either the Ethiopian Government or other sources in Ethiopia, so needs our support to continue their vital work

    Situation

Hospice Ethiopia is the only organisation dedicated to specialist palliative care in Ethiopia, a country with a population of more than 102,000,000. Sadly for many people in Ethiopia access to palliative care is currently impossible and they die with distressing, uncontrolled symptoms, lacking basic drugs & expertise. It's therefore essential that funding is provided so that Hospice Ethiopia can continue to provide care to dying patients, as well as educating a range of Health Care Professionals

    Solution

As the only dedicated specialist palliative care hospice in Ethiopia, Hospice Ethiopia (HE) has provided dignity, pain relief and essential care to numerous patients dying in Addis Ababa. This additional funding will ensure the continued and extended application of home based palliative care to patients with life limiting illnesses. It will also help HE to continue providing education to Health Care Professionals in and beyond Addis Ababa & to widen access to palliative care across the country.
