    Situation

Just 26% of people from the least represented areas in the UK go to university compared to 57% from the most represented areas. For students from a disadvantaged/underrepresented background the prospect of higher education often appears impossible due to tuition fees, the cost of living & subsequent debts they may face. We know it can also be daunting given the perceived challenges & pressures of a new environment. We want to support and develop bright minds, regardless of their background.

    Solution

We will be able to offer financial support & programmes to more students from disadvantaged/underrepresented backgrounds. In doing so, we will help to remove some of the barriers they tell us are reasons they wouldn’t be able to pursue a place at university such as anxiety around debt & fear of being away from home & making new friends. Our expert teams will help students acclimatise to university life through workshops, residential programmes & social activities & later, even offer career help.
