We are raising funds to enable us to offer a Christmas meal and hamper to our clients and others referred by other agencies. Beyond Christmas, we will offer individual support, life skills, trauma recovery, community cafe and school holiday activities. We have an open door to anyone in crisis.

    Situation

Offering a befriending and support service to those in East Dorset who are disadvantaged by poverty, illhealth, and social isolation. Christmas can be very hard for those living on tight budgets; we offer a full christmas dinner at the end of term, along with a lovely hamper and food. Donated toys are also provided through Wave 105. After Christmas, we look at the longer term needs of those who have attended. This may be debt support, budgeting, life skills, or trauma recovery.

    Solution

We already have a weekly programme planned for 2020. Activities include individual and group support, and our low cost Friday night cafe helps to break down social isolation and lonliness. Anyone is welcome to join us and our own debt clients eat for free. We raise funding each year to meet the cost of our yearly budget of around £38,000. Monies raised through the Christmas Challenge will go to support our befriending work wherever it is needed most in the next year.
