This campaign has now closed

For over 25 years we have delighted ourselves and our audiences by our discoveries of 'forgotten' operas from the late 18th century, dusting them off (often from original manuscripts) and making them live afresh. We take care to nurture the emerging careers of outstanding young singers of potential.

    Situation

Widely discussed in the arts press is the situation that market forces tend to restrict operatic repertory to a relatively small number of popular works. We adopt a more flexible and risk-taking approach by rediscovering great music which has been ignored often for two centuries. In the UK our superb conservatoires train singers and players to a superlative standard, but there are dwindling opportunities for successful careers.

    Solution

We'll again promote entertaining and educational performances of 'forgotten' music with 4 performances of Gluck’s sensuous ‘Paris and Helen’ (first performed 250 years ago) in 2 rural venues otherwise unserved by professional music-making, and also in London. We move to a new home venue this year, and we’re also hoping to secure a further new heritage venue. We'll challenge and develop our young professional singers' skills, including those from our Young Singers’ Competition.
